Running a Business in FiveM

In any serious roleplay server, jobs are more than just labels — they are organizations run by players. The best servers empower their players to manage their own businesses: hiring new employees, firing underperformers, managing company finances, and organizing their workforce.

Jobs Creator by Alone Studios provides a powerful Boss Menu that puts all of these management tools into the hands of your players through the in-game tablet. In this guide, we will cover everything the boss menu offers and how to get the most out of it in 2026.

Who Gets Access to the Boss Menu?

The boss menu is automatically available to players who hold the highest grade in a job. When you create a job and define grades (for example: Recruit, Officer, Sergeant, Chief), the player assigned to the top grade — in this case, Chief — is the boss.

Only the boss can see and access the boss menu options. Regular employees will not see these options in their tablet, which keeps management tools secure and hierarchical.

Multiple Bosses

If you assign multiple players to the highest grade, all of them will have boss access. This is useful for larger organizations where you want co-leaders or multiple managers.

Hiring Employees

One of the most important boss functions is bringing new people into the organization.

How to Hire

  1. Open the tablet as a boss
  2. Navigate to the Boss Menu section
  3. Select Hire Employee
  4. Find the player you want to hire (by proximity or player ID)
  5. Choose the grade they should start at
  6. Confirm the hire

The player is immediately added to the job at the specified grade. They will see the job title on their HUD, gain access to all job markers and features, and can start working right away. No server restart is needed.

Hiring Best Practices

  • Start new hires at the lowest grade — They can earn promotions as they prove themselves. This creates progression and motivation
  • Communicate expectations — Let new hires know what their job entails, where the work locations are, and what rules they should follow
  • Don't over-hire — Having too many employees in a job can dilute the experience. Keep your workforce appropriate to your server's player count

Firing Employees

Sometimes employees go inactive, break rules, or simply aren't a good fit. The boss menu makes removal painless.

How to Fire

  1. Open the tablet as a boss
  2. Go to Boss MenuEmployee List
  3. Find the employee you want to remove
  4. Click Fire
  5. Confirm the action

The player is immediately removed from the job. They lose access to all job markers, shops, armories, garages, and other job-specific features.

When to Fire

  • Inactivity — Players who haven't logged in for weeks are taking up a roster spot
  • Rule violations — Misusing job equipment, abusing the armory, or breaking server rules
  • Performance — In a roleplay context, if an employee is consistently failing to do their job

A Note on Fairness

Remember that firing someone impacts their gameplay experience. Good server culture involves clear expectations and warnings before removal, except in cases of serious rule violations.

Promotions and Demotions

The boss can also change an employee's grade, effectively promoting or demoting them.

How to Change Grades

  1. Open the Boss Menu from the tablet
  2. Select the employee from the list
  3. Choose a new grade for them
  4. Confirm the change

Promotions grant access to higher-grade perks — better armory loadouts, access to restricted shop items, higher salaries, and in some configurations, access to certain markers that are grade-locked.

Demotions work the same way in reverse. This is useful for disciplinary actions without fully firing someone.

Society Account Management

Every job in Jobs Creator can have a society account — a shared bank account for the organization. This is where company funds are stored, separate from any individual player's money.

What the Boss Can Do

From the Boss MenuSociety Account section, the boss can:

  • Check the balance — See how much money the organization has
  • Deposit money — Add personal funds to the company account
  • Withdraw money — Take funds from the company account

How the Society Account Gets Funded

Society accounts typically receive money from:

  • Job-related activities (selling goods at markets, service payments from citizens)
  • Direct deposits from the boss or employees
  • Any custom events your server has configured

Society Account Best Practices

  • Monitor the balance regularly — A society account that's growing too fast might indicate an economy imbalance
  • Set informal spending policies — Agree as an organization on what the funds should be used for (vehicle repairs, equipment purchases, bonuses)
  • Don't drain it recklessly — A boss who empties the society account hurts the entire organization
  • Use it for roleplay — The society account creates opportunities for realistic business management roleplay, budgeting, payroll discussions, and investment debates

Permission System

Jobs Creator includes a built-in permission system that controls who can do what:

  • Admin permissions — Server administrators can access all jobs, create new ones, and override settings
  • Boss permissions — Automatically granted to the highest-grade employee. Controls hiring, firing, and society funds
  • Employee permissions — Regular access to shops, armories, garages, and work markers

This layered system ensures that only trusted players have access to sensitive management functions while keeping the day-to-day job features available to all employees.

Discord Notifications for Management Actions

Jobs Creator integrates with Discord webhooks to notify you when important management actions happen:

  • A boss hires a new employee
  • A boss fires an employee
  • A large deposit or withdrawal is made from the society account
  • An employee is promoted or demoted

These notifications are invaluable for server owners who want to stay informed about what's happening in their organizations without being in-game 24/7. See our dedicated Discord notifications guide for setup instructions.

Stats and Reports

The tablet provides a stats and reports section where bosses and admins can view key metrics:

  • Number of active employees
  • Society account transaction history
  • Job activity logs

This data helps you understand how your jobs are performing, which ones are active, and where adjustments might be needed.

Real-World Management Scenarios

Scenario 1: Starting a New Police Department

You create a "police" job with grades: Cadet, Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Chief. You hire yourself as Chief (boss). You then hire 5 players as Cadets. Over the next week, you promote the best performers to Officer. You set up an armory with grade-restricted loadouts — Cadets only get a pistol, Officers get a taser and shotgun, Sergeants get a rifle. The society account funds vehicle repairs and equipment.

Scenario 2: Running a Mechanic Business

A player is assigned as the boss of the "mechanic" job. They hire mechanics, set up a shop with repair kits and parts, configure a garage with tow trucks and flatbeds, and manage the society account to pay for supplies. The boss checks the tablet's stats to see who's been working the most and promotes active employees.

Scenario 3: Managing a Restaurant

A chef job with crafting stations where food is prepared, a shop where ingredients are bought, and a market where finished dishes are sold. The boss manages ingredient restocking by monitoring which items are being used most and adjusts the crafting recipes as needed.
